I am a philosopher working in the fields of metaethics, epistemology, and the philosophy of mind. In metaethics, my current focus is on moral error theory and the requirement of consistency in moral thinking. In epistemology, I work on the Myth of the Given as it relates to the structure of epistemic justification and the debate between foundationalism and coherentism. In the philosophy of mind, I explore the philosophical implications of the Spinozan theory of belief, which is the view that beliefs are automatic outputs instead of the products of conscious deliberation. 

I am also interested in the philosophy of religion, aesthetics, and metaphysics. In the philosophy of religion, I write about theistic idealism of the Berkeleyan variety and natural theology. In aesthetics, I am currently thinking and writing about the nature of sentimental value. And in metaphysics, I defend the view that a defining feature of abstract objects, if they exist, is their lack of causal powers.
